Is this a holy thing to see
In a rich and fruitful land-
Babes reduc'd to misery,
Fed with cold and unurous hand?

Is that trembling cry a song?
Can it be a song of joy?
And so many children poor?
It is a land of poverty!

And their sun does never shine,
And their fields are bleak and bare,
And their ways are filled with thorns;
It is eternal winter there.

For where-e'er the does shie,
And where-e'er the rain does fall,
Babe can never hunger there,
Nor poverty the mind appall

Humanity is God's Idol

By idol I'm not implying what we think the word idol to be. God doesn't worship us like that... but I  believe that he loves humanity a great deal because we are an image of who He is.

Jesus was the 'son of God' in the form of a man, not a crocodile, or a bird, but a man. To be Christian is to believe that Jesus is the way to having an eternal relationship with God. Maybe it also means that it is through Jesus God comes to have a relationship with humanity.

Throughout time there has been many belief systems in worshiping various Gods in the form of idols. The Egyptians used to have statues of Gods in the temples whom they would dress, bath, cover with jewels, massage, and even bring food too. Although these statues didn't breathe our have life they believed that within the statue was the divine being of the God. But Jesus was real, he breathed, ate, slept, healed, bled... Jesus even felt pain, he was the son of God.

Humanity is created to be Gods idols on earth. We are the idols living within this temple called earth. God chooses to manifest himself in flesh, in us. We are the divine images of God. We need to be God like in everything we do by the way we treat and talk to people, how we do things, by how we live our life.

If God is alive in us then we need to look after ourselves because we are looking after God as well.

36hours

So I finally just ate after 36hours of fasting. I woke up at 6am and made a delicious healthy breakfast, of oats, dried cranberries, cinnamon, flax, homemade museli, and hot milk. It was so very tasty!! It was hard this time to fast, I found that I was really hungry, and my belly was hurting. But I did it and I stood for a good cause and I am proud. This was the first time I fasted spiritually in my adult life and it was amazing. Although I was so tired and hungry yesterday, I had so much energy and I felt this strong presence of God the whole day. Thank you Lord for giving me the strength, and for reminding me that it is you that gives us meaning in life.

Much Love;

When I went to bed last night all I could think about was food, because I knew I was going to fast today. I thought maybe I will just eat breakfast but then I remembered why I am fasting today.

There are so many people in our world who can't just go to the fridge when they are feeling hungry, or eat because they are bored, or indulge in their favorite foods because they can. A few weeks ago I gave up pnut butter because I take advantage of this pleasure indulging in it often without even thinking about how it came to be so accessible in my cupboard.

We take advantage of what we call these simple pleasures, yet to others it would be a matter of not starving to death. So today I am fasting for all of those people who are starving everyday, I am fasting to show appreciation to all the farmers who work hard everyday to make a living, to remember what a blessing food is and not just something that we consume everyday.

Today I fast for the world, for God, for my body and thank the good Lord above for all that he has given me today.

Love Always,
Nikki xox
